Children Adapt- They aren't resilient. (My personal view.)
Children aren't don't have tools to be strong (aka resilient) in trauma, they adapt to it. Things that go terribly wrong around them become internalized or externalized.
Children become seekers of what they need and/or blame themselves for all that is wrong.
This video hits the nail on the head about why. (TikTok)

Moral injury involves the damage done to conscience or moral compass when a person perpetrates, witnesses, or fails to prevent acts that transgress ones’ own moral beliefs, values, or ethical codes of conduct. (Source).
Moral injury is incredibly common among survivors of High Demand/Cult Group/Religious Trauma Survivors.
Other folks that I see that are affected are fellow care workers, medical professionals, clergy (current and former), legal/enforcement folks, and teachers. (Vets- I have amazing referrals for you, including therapists who are Vets! I’m not your gal, cause THEY are!)
By understanding fundamental concepts of Moral Injury, and working with a therapist to process your experiences to hopefully move forward in a more fulfilled life.
There are three identified primary causes of moral injury:An act of commission: When someone does something they should not have done or that strongly goes against their own moral code.
An act of omission: When someone should have done something but did not.
Betrayal: When someone feels betrayed by others, particularly by a higher authority who either acted, failed to act or compelled an individual to act in a way that goes against their moral code.
(Source.)
Moral Injury can feel like:
■ Intense feelings of shame and guilt
■ Sense of betrayal
■ Feelings of anger, anxiety and/or disgust
■ Lost or uncertain sense of personal identity
■ Loss of meaning or sense of purpose
■ Spiritual struggles (i.e., a sense of confusion about one’s beliefs or sense of having lost one’s faith)
■ Self-isolation and/or difficulty with intimate relationships
■ Inability to forgive or trust oneself or others
■ Self-blame and self-criticism, including feeling damaged, unworthy and/or weak
■ Self-sabotaging behavior such as self-harming, excessive use of substances and/or uncharacteristic recklessness
■ Suicidal ideation
